At Unique Care Solutions (South East) Ltd we understand and know that taking your medication on time and regularly is a must. All our support workers receive training in medication so they are able to assist you with it. Whether that be medication like Apixaban for your blood pressure, Amoxicillin for an infection or paracetamol for general aches and pains.
Our support workers can assist you in different ways and this could be in person when we are on a visit with you or by giving you a quick welfare call and be as simply as asking you if you have or are going to take your medication.
We also understand that sometimes you are unable to open packaging due to poor circulation or arthritis or even get your medication because of poor mobility. At your request we can get the medication and assist you in preparing your medication by opening strip packaging or getting you a drink. We won't choose which medication you have to take or administer the medication to you, this is something that you will need to be able to do for yourself.
Even though we won't administer or choose the medication you take, we will with your's or your families permission document on our daily call logs using a EMAR (Electronic Medication Administration Record) the time and what medication you took. This is valuable information for your loved ones and give's them piece of mind that you have taken your medication, for doctors (GP's) and district/community nurses so they can best treat any conditions or infections and for ambulance crews if they are ever called so they know what medical conditions you might have and so they can pass on the information to the ED (Emergency Department) so they know the best way to treat you.
